About our wax wraps

Reusable wraps are an earth-friendly, fully compostable alternative to single and multi-use plastic around the home. They replace cling film, tin foil, silicon bowl covers and plastic tubs with a natural product that keeps food and other items fresh, hygienic and safe with no lasting waste for the planet.

They are made simply from organic cotton, beeswax, tree resin and organic jojoba oil. When in use, the warmth of your hands moulds them to any shape and surface, creating a breathable seal to keep the contents fresh and protected.

Unique qualities in the beeswax and jojoba oil mean that the wraps are naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial. They retard bacteria and mould growth, creating a hygienic storage option and increasing the length of time food can be stored, reducing food waste too.

People are most familiar with them being used as food wraps but they have a multitude of uses around the home for customers wanting to reduce plastic and live a more sustainable waste-free life.

Using your wax Wraps

How long do they last?
Used daily and cared for well they should last about 9-12 months or even longer.

How do I clean my wraps?
After use, a quick rinse with cool water and maybe a little mild washing up liquid is all they need. Hang to drip dry naturally over the dish rack and you’re ready to use them again and again.

How and where should I store them?
Fold them for storage in a drawer or display these beauties rolled up in a jar or stacked in a basket on the worktop. Always make sure they are dry and out of direct sunlight when being stored.

Anything I shouldn’t do with them?
Avoid heat and flame and they are not for use in the microwave. Do not use on raw meat or fish, and make sure food and bowls are cold before wrapping.

other useful information

How to care for your wraps
Wax wraps don’t need a lot of care, but you can re-pasteurise them from time to time if you feel you want to, here’s what to do. Simply lay them on a baking sheet and place them in a preheated oven (approx. 125°C) for 2 minutes. Lift them out and carefully hold them up quickly to dry in seconds. They are now re-pasteurised, refreshed and looking good as new.

What do I do to dispose of them when I’m finished with them?
Our wraps are biodegradable meaning they will decompose naturally without leaving any chemicals or harmful residue behind. Simply toss them on the compost heap or scrunch them up and use them as a firelighter.

Do you have any information on allergies?
If you have a known allergy to honey or propolis then unfortunately beeswax wraps are maybe not for you. Jojoba oil and Pine Resin are both considered unlikely allergens for most people.

Anything else I need to know?
Our wraps are lovingly hand made so slight variations in size, colour and texture are part of their beauty!
